Drawing of the Day for 2/2/11 is a rejected illustration I did for a text book. The subject was supposed to be an “unconventional student”, so I immediately thought of the movie Back to School. I wanted the guy to “suggest” Rodney Dangerfield without looking enough like him that there could be any legal issues. The editor of the book didn’t mention the celebrity likeness, but thought the drawing would be offensive to older people. Can you believe that nonsense?

The Man Who Loves Spots
Drawing of the Day, 1/30/11: A fancy MFA member bought a digital print of this silly little drawing for $125 at the 1997 School of the Museum of Fine Arts December Sale. Alternately titled “The Undies”, I basically took a doodle and touched it up in Photoshop.

Drawing of the Day 1/26/11
I did this drawing while working at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. I combined the American Indian from the sculpture in front of the MFA with the rhino in front of the school. Then I played around with a color overlay in Photoshop.

Drawing of the Day 1/24/11
This was a drawing I did back in high school as part of my application to RISD. They require all applicants to draw a bicycle in graphite on 18 x 24″ paper.
